The tower located at the Lompa square is all that remains from the former Church of the Holy Trinity, which from the 13th century until 14th July 1760, when it succumbed to re, functioned as a parish temple.

The exact date of its construction remains unknown, but it is most often assumed that it took place in the early 13th century, which is closely related to Lubań gaining the civic rights around 1220. It is worth noticing that the history of the temple is intertwined with that of the Convent of Saint Magdalene. In 1320 the Duke of Jawor, Henryk I, funded the Convent of Saint Mary Magdalene in Lubań and granted it patronal rights over the Church of the Holy Trinity. The temple was dilapidated until 1760. It was not until 1879 that its core part was pulled down leaving the tower, which has survived till the present times. Before 1945, the citizens of Lubań called it tower of the parish church (Pfarrkirchturm) or the bell tower (Glockenturm). However, the Polish people usually refer to is as the Trinitarian Tower, which derives from the Latin term trinities, which means a trinity. The tower had been an integral part of the parish church for over ve centuries. The Church of the Holy Trinity was initially an oriented building, erected on a cross plan in the Romanian style. The tower adhered to the nave on the west side. In the 15th century, substantial changes to its structure were made, which rendered it with features of the Gothic style. It was transformed into a long, extended towards the school and three-nave building. The tower was also rebuilt. However, it is still unclear how much it was changed. Both the tower and the church were built of broken basalt stones and bricks.
